Know why you are expanding

Decide what the new marketplace is meant to achieve. Is it new customers, a new country, less dependence on one channel or a specific product opportunity? A clear reason makes it easier to judge whether the launch is working.

Make sure the current operation is stable

If catalogue, inventory, orders and reporting are already messy, another marketplace usually multiplies the same problems. Fixing the basics first makes expansion easier to manage.

Prepare the offer for the market

Different markets can mean different price expectations, competition, product presentation and customer behaviour. Expansion should involve real localisation, not only copying the existing listing.

Decide what success looks like before launch

Agree what will be measured and when the channel will be reviewed. That gives the team a clearer basis for deciding whether to invest more, change the plan or pause.
